Privacy policy.

Hi, this is the bit that the blog gets all serious, just for a bit.

This blog falls under Section 18 of the EU GDPR regulations that came into effect in May 2018, and is a private, non-commercial, social media blog. It is a blog, much like any other piece of social media, where I share my latest thoughts, writings, stories we have read, and sometimes views on items I have purchased of a feline nature.

Visitors to this blog do so on a purely social media basis, and are free, if they so chose, to leave comments on this blog. After all that is what social media is about, right?

A copy extract of the regulation is below:

“(18) This Regulation does not apply to the processing of personal data by a natural person in the course of a purely personal or household activity and thus with no connection to a professional or commercial activity. Personal or household activities could include correspondence and the holding of addresses, or social networking and online activity undertaken within the context of such activities. However, this Regulation applies to controllers or processors which provide the means for processing personal data for such personal or household activities.

(2) Regulation(EC)No45/2001oftheEuropeanParliamentandoftheCouncilof18December2000ontheprotectionofindividualswith regard to the processing of personal data by the Community institutions and bodies and on the free movement of such data (OJ L 8, 12.1.2001, p. 1).

Other things you may like, and need to know:-

I have blog comment moderation in operation to stop any unsavoury, fake (spam) or corrupted comments ruining the harmonious friendly of my account. Alas, and like any other form of social media, there are always those that think it is fun to ruin the fun of others.

We, this blog and the writer, do not use cookies (unless the sort we can dunk into a bowl of cream). This blog however is hosted by WordPress, and they do use cookies to provide the service/platform that they do.

On entering the site the reader will be presented with a ‘Cookie’ notice that they click to agree with. If you do not agree with the use of cookies, then the user has options (1) the user can change their settings in their browser, or (2) not access the site. By using the site, users agree to WordPress using the cookies and collecting the data they do.

We do not have control of data that they collect by these cookies, nor does this blog store this data, sell, rent, or otherwise distribute such data. Frankly we would rather not have any of the stuff but apparently the world and computers and people don’t work that way. Oh for newspapers and books! When a reader comments, WordPress analytics (powered by JetPack created by AUTOMATIC) also obtain user name, email address, users IP address, and any website address of the user, if they have one. We do view analytic data such as number of visits location, country time and date, as it gives us an insight into where our visitors come from, time and day and broad country of origin and allows us to respond to comments, and remove spam (not the meat kind!) etc. What we do not do is store this information, anywhere, we only view.

Whilst this blog does have or may from time to time have adverts, WordPress inflict them on us. To remove them we have to pay them money. As a retired individual, this is a bit much so we are stuck with them appearing from time to time. Sorry about that!

As a personal blog, we value the privacy of our readers as much as our own. As such we take every precaution reasonably possible to secure our readers, ourselves our equipment, the blog.

The bottom line on this all of this is, whether just viewing or commenting, if you cannot agree to the terms of use then please do not visit. (Of course you are here now, so you will have agreed to the cookie terms etc. or have restricted the information that WordPress collect.)

I never thought I would have to ever write that, but it is a users right to refuse, and we whole heartedly agree with our rights as individuals. We will be quite sad if you choose this option, but hope not many will…

I hope that all my readers will enjoy this site, and feel able, and comfortable to leave comments about the stories that have given us so much pleasure over the many hours days and months they have taken to write.

If someone wishes a comment of theirs removed, please contact us by leaving a comment on the page, and we will endeavour to delete the comment from the post as soon as is practicable to do so. NOTE! It is incumbent on YOU the visitors to not post anything that you would not wish seen by others. If in doubt DON’T say it, write it, or type it.

Please Note that this IS a family blog/social media site and as such ‘minors’ may be viewing and reading comments left on my page. Vetting should pick these up, but please consider carefully the language, nature, and context of comments that are left. If it’s not suitable for your young kids or your granny, it isn’t suitable here. Anything blue should be left at the door.

This site will block visitors who abuse our hospitality, and the harmony of commenting, spam etc. and we will also delete comments that are not suitable. Comments of an abusive, racist, sexual or otherwise explicit nature, or inciting to commit crimes or a breach of the peace, or incite hatred will NOT be accepted under any circumstance and will be dealt with accordingly. We of course DO approve of healthy comment and criticism, as that is good. Just please DO NOT cross over the line.

Our website may from time to time contain links to other websites of interest. However, once you have used these links to leave our site, you should note that we do not have any control over that other website. Therefore, we cannot be responsible for the protection and privacy of any information which you provide whilst visiting such sites and such sites are not governed by this privacy statement. Whilst we endeavour to only supply links to trusted sites and to fellow bloggers sites, you should exercise caution and look at the privacy statement applicable to the website in question, their host, etc. and check that the site is secure, with a ‘Padlock’ symbol displayed in your browser bar.
